Recently been on a vacation to the East Coast and San Francisco and have done a few sketches

inspired from it, except in the one on the middle I just wanted to draw some random girl. Anyway the bottom drawing is a Sabrett stand that I saw alot in The Big Apple. The top drawing was inspired by a friend who liked Soul and I figure to try some Graffiti style art just because I've been into it as of now. Sorry I haven't updated as regularly as I should but thanks for visiting. I have a comic coming along and I'll post some previews of that soon.

Medival Concept

I've been thinking up a medival story aimed for children. I made this piece as a jumping off point although it turned out to be a much longer piece than I had expected. After viewing this piece I want to stylize the Castle and buildings much more.

Piece for a Friend

This piece was done a few days ago and this was really fun. I think one of my favorite subjects are kids because to me they're emotions are genuine. These were done for a friend for her nephews. They are sports fans and are adorable and I wanted to capture that.

I wanted to do a sketch that would take 90 minutes though sadly this took me many more hours than that ha! Ah well I will do more of this type of exercise to speed up my drawing, composition and decision making. You may ask why a biker and why is he pointing a gun while popping a wheelie. I don't know what I was thinking really other than it would look cool. Still need to improve on alotta things but still a fun yet unexpectedly longer exercise.

In Honor of Arthur Yeh...

It has been a very sad couple of days for me and my friends. Arthur Yeh, an artist and close friend of mine from college, had past away a few days ago from a car accident. It is still hard for me to grasp that he is not here. Maybe its because I'd like to think that we will share a laugh again like we always had. Or that the group of us would go to the movies and analyze the heck out of the flick. Or just sketch and throw out story ideas to each other. Arthur's passing was just too sudden, and too soon.

I'd describe Arthur as funny and easygoing but I will always remember him for his generosity. Arthur always gave a helping hand to me and his friends. Whether it may be a spot for a meal or a helping hand on a project or some advice he was always there. It may not be a big deal to him but to me, his constant willingness to help out friends showed how great a person he really is. I remember bugging him about rigging instructions in our 3d animation class. Even though I may have annoyed the heck out of him he would always give the time to help me out. Arthur had also introduced me to alot of great films and artworks such as those of Miyazaki's which had influenced my artwork a great deal. Arthur had a great eye for art and knew what makes a good story.

I would like to say thanks to Arthur. Thank you for all the laughs and fun times. Thanks for being a great friend. His life has made me realize what is really important in life, to value those close to you and to just live life to the fullest. Arthur you will always be remembered. Whenever I may pick up a pencil and start drawing, whenever I may watch a hilariously horrible film, whenever I may eat a rack of ribs, there will always be a fond memory of you in my mind. Until we meet again my friend. God Bless.

Batman Studies

I've studied some of Bruce Timm designs of Batman and it has made me appreciate his talents even more. The first two drawing are original Bruce Timm poses to get the rhythm and style down. The last two drawings were poses I made up but still using som of Bruce's drawings as reference. I still have a waaayss to go to get the whole style down but it was a fun study nonetheless.

Here is a piece for my cousin which I've done using pencil and then noodling it with flash. It was frustrating, fun and gruelling wrapped into one but I finally managed to finish it. I still have a lot to learn about flash but I do like the way it cleans up. I do hope you all like... any comments welcome.
(Oh by the way the colors aren't as vibrant since I converted it to jpeg)

Alot of these drawings were done in the train and inbetween breaks at work. I wanted these characters to be appealing and show a little bit of there personality. I took into account advice from artists in shape and posing but I feel I have a ways to go in pushing the poses. I am taking an animal character design class at work and the first day was fun. I haven't drawn horses for awhile and it shows. By the way if you have any critiques or comments to strengthen my pieces go ahead and leave a comment. I think the only way to succeed and get better is to find what it is that needs to be addressed. Also I have been designing a little boy character. A big influence in these designs were from the books from Mike Kunkel. Just finished The Land of the Sockmunster and it was a fun read.

Ahh, geez I haven't posted any artwork up for anyone to see for months. No worries I've actually been working on 2d as well as some 3d stuff. But I will for now on make an effort to update regularly. I have actually moved back to Chino from Glendale due to some personal reasons but I did land a production position in Cartoon Network for My Gym Partner's a Monkey which i feel am very lucky and blessed. All the artists there have been super cool! Well here are some sketches I did during my train ride to and from Burbank. Hope you likiesss! While I've been away from blogging I've been working on two short animation tests as well as some rigging. I do not think I have worked as intensely on an animation before these since I made myself a deadline for them to be finished. Also while I was away from blogging I have relocated to Glendale. Well its been about a week since I last posted and I havent been drawing as much as I should be doing. But here are some sketches I have done in the week and some done months ago. The first drawing is of LadyReptile a sci fi character concept I have made. The next is a warrior character done awhile back and I tried using more curves. The next is a stubby batman and some superhero lady. The last drawing is a shirt design concept that is still a WIP.

Well I finished this piece a few days ago but havent got a chance to post it. I used flash for cleanup and photoshop for color. Recently I got to go to comic con and saw some of the best in the business. Ahh it was a good time. Now its time for me to make new pieces.

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no its GeezerMan!!! Making the city safe one shaky step at a time. Well using contrast to make a funny scene I used and old guy as some super hero... powers, hmm not sure yet but Ill think of something funny, all in all it was a fun sketch. I also drew a sketch from a photo of a good friend. She's at a terminal and the photo had this some cool mood to it so I had to draw it! I've also threw in some head sketches from awhile back as an extra bonus. Drawing more and more I am realizing I need to work more on perspectives but I think I am improving...

Ah, it was a fun independence day. Got to see some of the Disneyland fireworks though unfortunately traffic was horrible. Well we got to see fireworks on the strip. During the afternoon, I was watching the Eating Championship and was impressed by Kobayashi. Most people wouldnt think a contestant of his body type would have a chance, just goes to show technique, will and a heart of a champion is what makes a winner!

Here is a verry rough sketch I did of a gal sitting comfortably on a couch. Its still pretty rough but I like it. Though my coloring and lighting is far from where I would like it to be. Enjoy!
